Sixth-Grade Arizona Trip
Sixth grade culminates with a week-long Arizona adventure that incorporates history, geology, ecology, geography, astronomy, anthropology, religion, music, art, and outdoor education. The days are filled with challenging physical activities: horseback riding, hiking, swimming, mountain biking, camping, and archery. Students learn outdoor survival skills, participate in a drumming session, explore a lava tube, and view dinosaur tracks. The itinerary includes the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, the cliff dwellings at Walnut Canyon, and ancient petroglyph sites. On the Navajo and Hopi reservations, the class learns firsthand about Native American culture.
