H1N1 FLU CONCERNS
The following is important information on the H1N1 Flu outbreak.
News reports of the H1N1 Flu outbreak have made headlines over the past days. We would like to assure you that we are keeping abreast of the information about this outbreak and offer this short update.
Holy Nativity School is monitoring the Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) advisories. The CDC advises that symptoms of the swine flu include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Diarrhea and vomiting may also be associated with flu. It is a virus and contagious.
The best protection is to practice good hygiene.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
If your child or other family members experience flu symptoms, please stay home and contact your personal physician to determine if testing is warranted. Please advise the school of your child's absence and provide any information about testing to Stephanie at 373-3232 x104.
The school administration will continue to monitor the situation carefully. The CDC also has an informative Web page: www.cdc.gov/swineflu/swineflu_you.htm. We want to protect the health of our community and appreciate your support.
