The day will be split into 3 main activity blocks. The activity blocks will vary, everyday will feature circus activities, unicycling (for kids 7 and older) and some art & crafts. Circus disciplines for example are juggling, spinning plate, balance beam, walking globe and hula hooping. On our first day of camp kids get introduced to those different disciplines and the following days we will continue to practice them in a fun and age appropriate way. This program works on and increases students’ balance, coordination, confidence, and team working skills. Learning circus skills can increase the development of students’ motor skills, improve muscle tone, increase balance and develop better equilibrium reactions. “Kindness is like a muscle. For some, it may be naturally stronger, but every person can build that muscle with practice. And practicing kindness can be simple if we build it into our routine.” This summer the Keiki 3’s and Pre-Kindergarten adventurers will be investigating the joys of the great outdoors. We will focus on fostering curiosity and creativity as we discover the natural wonders of Hawaii. Through the lens of ‘nature and camping,’ we will be reinforcing beginning math, language, sciences, music, arts, and socio-emotional skills. We will also be working on our large and fine motor skills with plenty of hands-on activities and group movement games. We are looking forward to a fun-filled summer with our little adventurers!

Hop on board the “Oceanic” as we follow King David Kalakau‘a on his epic 281-day world tour! Our first stop is San Fransisco where we will design our own “Palace Hotel” fit for a King or Queen out of recycled materials. Then off to Japan to learn the art of Origami geometrical shapes and dramatize the story of “Momotaro, The Peach Boy.” We then move on to China where we will celebrate the “Year of the Pig,” by crafting a drum and creating a dragon puppet. Next stop is Paris, France where will duplicate our own Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and build our own planet inspired by “Le Petit Prince.”  Finally, we will return to our beloved Islands where we welcome the safe return of our King with song and hula.

Each day we will work on our “Blue Planet” project where we learn the continents and oceans, study marine life as we sail across the world, read a story and write in our journal accordingly, spend time in the Performing Arts room for drama, music and crafting, learn measurements, money, fractions, percentages, shapes and time through each craft or cooking project we attend to and take either a walking or bus field trip on Fridays.
