Hō‘ike: May Day at HNS

HO‘ike 2024: Save the Date

Since 1950, Holy Nativity School has celebrated May Day, as a way for students to learn about Hawaiian culture, music, hula, and history.

Our Holy Nativity community is welcome to join us for our 2024 Hōʻike at Holy Nativity School on May 17th, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the courtyard followed by a lū`au celebration.

The theme for this year's Ho‘ike is MOANA NUI.

Led by Kumu Blaine and Po‘o Opua, our keiki will dive deep into Moana Nui, which is based on the real heritage and history of Polynesia, and includes the island cultures of Hawai‘i, Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, Aotearoa and more. Polynesian culture in Moana is an incredible historical account of way-finding and the deep ties between all Pacific nations.

Our students are learning unique songs from across Polynesia about voyaging, way-finding, and the ancient canoes. Join us for Hō‘ike 2024: MOANA NUI!
